Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Sunday that Iran would stop its military responses if Israel halts its ongoing attacks. Speaking to diplomats in Tehran, Araghchi made his first public statement since Israeli strikes on Iran began on Friday.
“If the aggression stops, our responses will also stop,” Araghchi declared, signaling a potential de-escalation if Israeli operations come to an end.
As of Sunday, Israel had continued its military strikes across multiple locations in Iran. There was no immediate response from Israeli officials regarding Araghchi’s remarks.
The Iranian foreign minister was originally scheduled to engage in nuclear negotiations with the United States in Oman on the same day. However, those talks collapsed as a result of the intensified Israeli assault.
In a separate development, the Israeli military issued a warning to the Iranian population, advising immediate evacuation of facilities involved in military weapons production, a move widely interpreted as an indication of further incoming strikes.
The situation remains tense, with both sides on high alert amid concerns of further escalation.
